Tips On Managing Your Kitchen Remodel

Tips On Managing Your Kitchen Remodel Breathe new life into your home with an updated kitchen. Few rooms can alter the look and feel of your home as much as a kitchen. Whether you’re looking to update a few appliances or completely redo your entire kitchen, follow these tips on managing your kitchen remodeling project.

Cabinets can be painted to save money.

Cabinetry can cost anywhere from 30% to 40% of the total cost of a kitchen remodel. Consider painting them rather than replacing them if you like their position and functioning but the finish is dark or drab. It's a time-consuming but manageable DIY project, and your wallet will thank you. Even hiring a professional painter will be a fraction of the cost of new bespoke cabinets.

Invest in a high-quality faucet.

Because the faucet is the most used portion of the kitchen, aim for quality and convenience—that is, a premium brand with a single handle. Check faucet and handle clearances if your sink is in front of a window to ensure it fits (and you won't bang your knuckles on the sill). When choosing a sink to go with it, keep it simple: To avoid having to stoop to do the dishes, use a single bowl as large as you can fit and no deeper than 10 inches.

When selecting a faucet, keep functionality in mind.

Consider the space between the countertop and the cabinets as a blank canvas on which to paint your personality. Unless you use oversized subway tiles, lay them vertically, or arrange them in a herringbone pattern, subway tiles have a traditional look. Although little mosaic designs are attractive, grout lines are more difficult to clean.

There are also non-tile possibilities, such as beadboard paneling or metal ceiling tiles, as well as glass, metal, stone, mosaic, embossed ceramic, and other tiles. Choose something that expresses your personal style, but is also universally appealing and easy to maintain, so it won't turn off potential buyers when you decide to sell your home.
